For the past three years, my dear friend, Dede and I have been co-hosting the Annual Evening of Care Dinner in my home. The Evening of Care dinner is a catered dinner event created to raise  funds for the Care Clinic. The CARE Clinic is a non-profit health clinic that provides free quality medical care and dental extractions to eligible uninsured, low income adults who live in Cumberland County.

As hosts, our requirements were to open our home, and provide the appetizers and drinks. The remainder of the food was catered. My lovely in-laws own a local florist called Always Flowers by Crenshaw here in town, and donated the beautiful centerpieces for our tables to entertain with.

Dede made the Bourbon Slush and an artichoke dip for an appetizer. I made jalapeños stuffed with chorizo and cheese, shrimp cocktail, and a gourmet cheese platter. The dinner menu included Chicken Parmesan with Cream Sauce, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Haricot Vert with Almonds, Mixed Green Salad, and Apple Bread Pudding…

Dede's slush turned me into a lush and I have no pictures of the food. I was too busy having fun to stop and do my "food blogging job" for the evening. As Jamie Foxx would sing, "Blame it on the a a a a a alcohol."

It really wasn't my fault. That frozen cocktail was so darn good… I very quickly forgot there was any Bourbon in it… It was like sipping on a very tasty sweet popsicle. And it made the party sooooo much fun!!

Also, for my bourbon lovers, try my Bourbon Brown Sugar Fudge! You will love it!
