Sriracha Pineapple Ham in a slow cooker

    Ingredients

Here is a list of the ingredients you will need for this simple slow cooker ham recipe.

    • bone-in, smoked spiral cut ham
    • brown sugar
    • canned crushed pineapple
    • Sriracha Hot Sauce
    • cornstarch

    Watch how to make

    Steps

Follow these easy steps to make the perfect slow cooker Sriracha pineapple ham.

    1. Trim ham to fit in the slow cooker.
    2. Sprinkle ¼ cup of the brown sugar on the bottom of the slow cooker.
    3. Place the ham and any extra trimmed pieces on top of the brown sugar.
    4. In a bowl, mix together remaining brown sugar, Sriracha hot sauce, and pineapple.
    5. Pour sauce mix over the ham. Try to pour some of the sauce between the slices of the ham to flavor the ham.
    6. Cook on low for 4-6 hours.
    7. Before serving, take out 2 cups of pineapple juice mixture from slow cooker. Try not to get too much of the pineapple chunks. Add pineapple juice mixture to a medium sauce pan. Mix in cornstarch. Cook on medium to high heat until sauce has thickened (about 10 minutes) stirring continuously to prevent scorching.
    8. Pour sauce over top of ham. Rest 5 minutes before serving.

    Tip

Sriracha isn't as hot as a typical hot sauce, so the heat factor doesn't overwhelm the ham. However, if you are sensitive to spicy food, you can adjust to ¼ cup of Sriracha.

This slow cooker sriracha pineapple ham is also perfect for the holidays such as a Christmas ham or Easter ham!

What side dishes do you serve with ham?

This slow cooker ham is great by itself as on entree or you could serve it on bread rolls.

Use the ham for Hawaiian rolls, yeast rolls, or as a ham sandwich.

Some great side dish ideas to serve with ham include:

    • Southern Sweet Potato Casserole
    • Mashed Potatoes
    • Southern Crockpot Green Beans and Potatoes
    • Creamy Instant Pot Mac and Cheese
    • Seven Layered Salad
    • Corn Pudding
    • Field Peas
    • Southern Baked Beans Quintet

How long is leftover ham good in the fridge?

Do not leave ham out at room temperature more than 2 hours.

You can store your leftover ham 3 to 4 days in the fridge if it is tightly wrapped up or sealed in an air tight container.

If you want to save it more than 4 days, freeze the leftover ham until you are ready to use it.

What do you do with leftover ham?

Looking for some ways to use up that leftover ham? Here are some leftover ham ideas:

    • Make a ham sandwich.
    • Dice it and add it to an omelet or egg casserole.
    • Mix the ham with scalloped potatoes.
    • Chop it up and mix it in with mac and cheese.
    • Add it to a salad.
    • Add it to a soup.
    • Dice it and cook it with beans.

There are lots of fun ideas to use your left over ham in. Just don’t wait past 4 days!

    Alecia and I

One of my dearest friend, Alecia Paschal, gave me this recipe.

She new I would like this recipe because of the sweet, salty, and spicy combination.

She also knows I LOVE Sriracha. I could eat it like ketchup!

Alecia and I go way back. I met her when I was first starting to date my husband. I absolutely adore her.

She would have been in my wedding if her brother had not got married on the same day as mine....

Please leave me a comment below if you make this slow cooker ham and tell me what you thought about it. I would love to hear back, and so would my readers.

Also post your picture of your ham on Instagram or Facebook, and tag @aforkstale with #aforkstale hashtags! I will share with my followers! xoxo!

We certainly do enjoy hot and spicy and the rest of our family does as well. I couldn't believe how easy this recipe was. We had a birthday gathering yesterday and I had the ingredients to make the ham. Everyone went nuts over how good it was. They loved the pineapple with the heat to it. In fact they insisted I make this for our Easter dinner.

Thank you. The sweet tang of the pineapple mixed with the heat of the sriracha sauce was mouth watering. For those of us who love some heat, like me a coupe extra shakes of hot sauce was a bonus in flavor.
