Fudge Brownies Recipe- Chocolate Fudge Brownies

Do you love gooey, chocolate fudge brownies? Then you will love this recipe. This sweet recipe adds buttermilk to to the batter for moist brownies and a homemade crackly fudge frosting.

  • 2 boxes Ghirardelli Double Chocolate Brownie Mix 20oz each
  • 12 tbs melted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • 1 tbs real vanilla extract

Fudge Frosting

  • 8 tbs butter
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 2 tbs unsweetened chocolate cocoa powder
  • 1 box powder sugar 16oz
  • 1 tsp real vanilla extract


  • Preheat oven to 325.
  • Grease a 9x13 in baking dish.
  • Mix 2 boxes of brownie mix, 12 tbs butter, 2 eggs, ½ cup buttermilk, and 1 tbs vanilla in a large mixing bowl.  When completely combined, pour into prepared baking dish.
  • Bake for 45 minutes or until center is set, but still a little soft.
  • Cool for 20 minutes. In the last 5 minutes, begin making frosting.

Fudge Frosting

  • In a medium sauce pan, melt 8 tbs butter over medium heat.
  • Stir in 2 tbs cocoa and ½ cup milk. Continue to stir until it begins to reach a soft boil.
  • Remove from heat and quickly mix in 1 box of powder sugar and 1 tsp vanilla extract.
  • Pour frosting over brownies.
  • Allow brownies to completely cool before serving and cutting.



Note: I make these brownies with the Ghirardelli Double Chocolate Brownie mix. This is my favorite brand. However, you can use any chocolate brownie mix. Follow the same steps.
