Easy Banana Pudding with Sour Cream- Southern Banana Pudding

This is an easy no-bake Banana Pudding with sour cream recipe. The sour cream makes this pudding thick and creamy. It is the perfect dessert for cookouts, potlucks, and family gatherings.

  • 5 oz Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix
  • 2 Cups Heavy Cream
  • 8 oz Sour Cream
  • 8 oz Cool Whip
  • 6 Bananas Sliced
  • 1 Box of Vanilla Wafers


  • Crush 5 vanilla wafers and set aside.
  • Mix 5 oz pudding mix and 2 cups heavy cream at a low speed until thick. 
  • Blend in 8oz sour cream and ½ of cool whip. (4oz)
  • Layer with first ⅓ of box vanilla wafers, then 2 bananas cut into slices, then ½ pudding mixture.
  • Repeat with Layer with ⅓ of box vanilla wafers, then 2 bananas cut into slices, then remaining pudding mixture.
  • Add one more layer of remaining vanilla wafers, then 2 bananas cut into slice. Top with remaining of the cool whip. (4oz)
  • Sprinkle with the crushed vanilla wafers to garnish.
  • Cover and refrigerate at least 3 hours before serving.



You can crush a few vanilla wafers for a pretty topping.
