This recipe makes the perfect Christmas ham or Easter ham. Sriracha Pineapple Ham is also great for feeding a large crowd.
- 8-10 lb bone-in, smoked spiral cut ham
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 15 oz canned crushed pineapple
- ½ cup Sriracha Hot Sauce
- 2 tbs cornstarch
Trim 8-10 lb ham to fit in the slow cooker.
Sprinkle ¼ cup of the brown sugar on the bottom of the slow cooker. Place the ham and any extra trimmed pieces on top of the brown sugar.
In a bowl, mix together remaining ½ cup brown sugar, ½ cup Sriracha hot sauce, and 15 oz pineapple.
Pour sauce mix over the ham. Try to pour some of the sauce between the slices of the ham to flavor the ham.
Cook on low for 4-6 hours.
Before serving, take out 2 cups of pineapple juice mixture from slow cooker. Try not to get too much of the pineapple chunks. Add pineapple juice mixture to a medium sauce pan. Mix in 2 tbs cornstarch. Cook on medium to high heat until sauce has thickened (about 10 minutes) stirring continuously to prevent scorching.
Pour sauce over top of ham. Rest 5 minutes before serving.
Note: You can store your leftover ham 3 to 4 days in the fridge if it is tightly wrapped up or sealed in an air tight container.
Note: Sriracha isn't as hot as a typical hot sauce, so the heat factor doesn't overwhelm the ham. However, if you are sensitive to spicy food, you can adjust to ¼ cup of Sriracha.
