The Motor Supply Company Bistro is a true farm-to-table restaurant, serving fresh ingredients from their surrounding local farms. Their handwritten menu is updated daily with their newest creations. On the menu, you will find an eclectic mix of Cajun, Southern, French, Italian, Asian, and American inspired culinary cuisines. Their modern decor is beautifully eccentric with walls adorned with interesting works of art. It is located in the historic Congaree Vista in Columbia, South Carolina.
Our friends; Worth and Alecia, my husband, and I stopped in on our last day stay in Columbia and were welcomed to an amazing brunch. The restaurant was packed and a line was out the door by 12:00pm. It is definitely a favorite choice to the locals. Motor Supply Company features a variety of house-infused liquors, local craft beers, and a very nice wine list. I had the Bacon Infused Bloody Mary. It was quite good. They also offered Spiked Arnold Palmers, gourmet sodas, and Mimosas for the Sunday Brunch.
We were very impressed with the Sunday’s Brunch. Every dish was a creative, high quality, handmade creation. My husband ordered the House Smoked Brisket with a Carolina Red Barbecue Sauce, Scrambled Eggs, and Cheesy Potatoes.
Worth selected the Buttermilk Biscuit Plate smothered in house made sausage gravy, with scrambled eggs and Adluh Stone Ground Grits.
Alecia chose the Low Country Crab Cakes topped with a Roasted Red Pepper Tarter Sauce over the Adluh Stone Ground Grits.
I had the Pan Seared Trout with a Cashew and Caper Relish over Adluh Stone Ground Grits. It was excellent.
Other Entrees included a Quiche, an Oven Roasted Pork Lion with a Mustard Sauce, French Toast with a Black Berry Maple Syrup, an Everything Bagel, and a few other choices.
We saved a little room for dessert. Because you can’t miss an opportunity for a really good dessert. I apologize for not recalling the pies. I just know we devoured them rather quickly….
We were all proud members of the Clean Plate Club. Not one unhappy customer at our table. Food was fantastic. Kudos to the Chef. Service was great. The staff was friendly and informative. The atmosphere was charming and intriguing. This is the kind of place you can take someone on a date, anniversary, or special occasion. But don’t wait for a special occasion; because life is too short not to eat well on any day! We will be back for sure. I highly recommend stopping at the Motor Supply Company Bistro when visiting Columbia, South Carolina. And if you go and you like it, I told you so!
