Italian Beef is a delicious, spicy pepperoncini roast. It is great as an entree by itself or served on a hoagie roll as a sandwich. This Italian Beef recipe is made with only 4 Ingredients in the Instant Pot. It is an easy dinner recipe perfect for those busy weeknights or for Sunday family dinners.

    Italian Beef

    Instant pot Pepperoncini Roast

    Italian Beef

I originally inherited this recipe from my sweet friend Dede Hedgepeth. Her Crock-Pot Pepperoncini Pot Roast is one of my most popular posts.

Because it has become so popular and my readers love it so much, I decided to make an Instant Pot Italian Beef version. It is just as easy to make in the Instant Pot as it is in the Crock-Pot and it comes out just as tasty.

    4 Ingredients

What I love about this pressure cooker beef recipe is that it only takes 4 ingredients to make it! Ingredients are:

    • beef roast
    • pepperonicini jar
    • dry Italian Seasoning mix
    • dry gravy seasoning mix

Mix all ingredients in the Instant Pot/Pressure Cooker. Out comes a tender, spicy, flavorful Italian Beef Roast.... YUM!

    How to serve Italian Beef

My family likes to eat this pepperoncini roast as an entree with a side of creamy homemade mashed potatoes and a vegetable. (This is probably my daughter's favorite homemade meal.)

However, it is fantastic on a hoagie roll served as a sandwich. It would also make a great slider recipe for tailgating or game day.

    Can you freeze?

This roast freezes well also if you wanted to double the recipe and freeze half.

Have you ever had a Chicago style Italian Beef Sandwich?

Have you ever had a Chicago style Italian Beef Sandwich? It is pretty AMAZING! The original was rumored to be from Al's #1 Italian Beef .

He roasted top sirloin roasts in a water, garlic, and a spice mixture. Next, he dipped his beef in the "gravy" juice it was cooked in before adding it on French bread. This technique is called making the beef sandwich "wet or dipped."

A true authentic "Italian Beef" sandwich is then topped with a giardiniera mixture and added to a French bread roll.

For this recipe, we cook the beef in pepperoncini so it has some of the similar spicy pickled flavors of the  giardiniera mix. Adding the giardiniera additionally would be a bit of an over-kill.

Just make sure to include those cooked pepperoncinis in your sandwich. While this recipe isn't exactly the same as Al's Italian Beef, it is very similar in flavor.

Just dip the meat in the gravy mix before you add it to a French roll. You will have one killer sandwich! Some people add provolone cheese at the end. I prefer it without the cheese, but you may have a different opinion.

Honestly, the amount of time of natural release will be different every time. Waiting for it to finish will allow meat to stay tender, but if you want to speed up the duration, you can always do the quick release. I just don't recommend doing so.

I make this for sandwiches, but use the sliced pepperoncinis. Love this recipe also using powdered ranch dressing. Such a versatile recipe!
