Steps to make peppermint Oreo truffles

Making these peppermint Oreo truffles is fun and easy. Follow these simple steps.

    • Crush Oreo cookies into fine crumbs using a food processor or blender. (photo 1)
    • Mix in cream cheese and peppermint extract until completely blended. (photo 2)
    • Refrigerate until firm (1 hour or more).
    • Roll Oreo mixture into 1 inch round balls. (photo 3)
    • In a heatproof medium glass or metal bowl, add white chocolate candy coat. Place bowl over a small saucepan with 1 inch of water. Cook on low heat stirring occasionally until the white chocolate is completely melted.  (photo 4)
    • Dip Oreo balls into melted white chocolate. Place on wax paper. (photo 5)
    • Sprinkle tiny bits of crushed peppermints Starlights or crushed candy canes. (photo 6)
    • Refrigerate until white chocolate coating is hard (about 1 hour).

Note: Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

    Tip

After several Oreo balls are rolled into the melted white chocolate, little bits of Oreo chocolate will mix in the white chocolate.

Therefore you might see a little bit of the chocolate specks in the coating when it hardens. This does not personally bother me.

Tip: However, if you are worried about the chocolate specks, melt the white chocolate in smaller batches. Then coat the balls a little at a time to prevent this from happening.

    Can you freeze them?

You can freeze the peppermint Oreo truffles in an airtight container or freezer Ziploc bag for up to 3 months.

These peppermint truffles are so tasty, I couldn't stop eating them. I love no bake recipes during the holidays, especially ones that are peppermint. I'll serve them at Christmas as dessert or bring them to our annual gift exchange at work.
