ingredients to make Peanut Butter Bon Bons

    What do you need?

To make these peanut butter bon bons, you need the following ingredients:

    • creamy peanut butter
    • Pillsbury Ready to Spread Vanilla Frosting
    • butter
    • graham crackers
    • semi-sweet chocolate chips
    • vegetable oil or shortening

Tip: Do not use all natural or chunky peanut butter for this recipe.

Note: This recipe came from my grandmother. Instead of semi-sweet chocolate chips, she melted ready-spread chocolate frosting. Melting the ready-spread chocolate frosting easily burns or overcooks. For this reason, I changed her recipe up just a bit and use melted chocolate in place of the chocolate frosting.

    How to make

Follow these easy steps to make the peanut butter bon bons:

    1. In a large bowl, combine vanilla frosting, peanut butter, and softened butter until completely blended.
    2. Stir in finely crushed graham cracker crumbs and mix well.
    3. Form 1-inch balls and add to a baking sheet lined with wax paper. Freeze peanut butter balls for 1 hour.
    4. In a heatproof medium glass or metal bowl, combine chocolate chips and vegetable oil or shortening. Place bowl over a small saucepan with 1 inch of water. Cook on low heat stirring occasionally until the chocolate is completely melted. You do not want the water to touch the bowl because it can overheat the chocolate.
    5. Using a toothpick, dip peanut butter balls into chocolate. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off.
    6. Place chocolate covered balls back on waxed paper.
    7. Chill in the refrigerator at least 30 minutes to set.

Note: Adding the vegetable oil or shortening thins out the chocolate keeping it from clumping when melted.
