It is a great seasoning to have on hand in your kitchen.

It also makes a fantastic hostess gift.

Mushroom salt in a metal container with a spoon coming out to the side with three mushrooms set to the side of the container.

I have gotten on this kick of making homemade flavored salt.

It makes a boring dish AMAZING!!! I started with making homemade jalapeño salt.

I fell in love with that stuff. I have been putting it on everything.

I gave some to my friends and now they keep asking for more. I can't keep it on hand.

Making this mushroom salt is simple and easy. With only 3 ingredients, you can make this seasoned salt recipe.

Then I needed a celery salt for a recipe and I couldn't find it in half the stores I went to.

When I did find the celery salt and saw the ridiculous price, I was like,"Forget this, I will make my own!!!"

My celery salt was better than any store bought version. It was like eating fresh celery without the rough texture.

After such great results with my other flavors, I decided to create this mushroom seasoned salt recipe.

The salt  is very powdery. It doesn't have a very grindy texture like most salts.

That is because it is packed with mushrooms and dehydrated into a powder.

However, the powdery texture is great for dusting dishes with FLAVOR!!!!

    What do you need?

You will need a dehydrator for this recipe.

I use the Nesco FD-75A Snackmaster Pro Food Dehydrator, White - MADE IN USA to dehydrate all of my foods. I love it. I highly recommend it.

    Ingredients

You need these three ingredients to make mushroom salt:

    • sliced mushrooms-Honestly, you can use any flavored mushrooms you want. I used the sliced white button mushrooms, but Baby Bella or Shiitake would be great. You can also mix them up.
    • sea salt-You want a nice coarse sea salt. I don't recommend table salt.
    • red chili flakes-This just adds a little spice and flavor. You can omit this if your don't want it spicy. I don't recommend black pepper because it over powers the salt.

    How to make

Follow these steps to make homemade mushroom salt seasoning.

    1. Rinse mushrooms until completely clean.
    2. Dehydrate mushrooms in your dehydrator according to manufacture's instructions. They must be completely dehydrated and brittle when done. Approximately 15 hours.
    3. In a blender, grind mushrooms, salt, and chili flakes until completely broken down.
    4. Store in an airtight container. Add over any dish that you would add salt to give it a new flavor.

My daughter hates mushrooms, but I have found it is the texture and look of the mushrooms that she hates.

She has no idea I have slipped this mushroom salt into some of our meals, and so far she has not complained.

This mushroom salt adds that immediate flavor punch to a dish that takes it from boring to delicious.

I started giving this gluten free seasoning to my friends as a homemade gift. They love it. I hope you enjoy it also. xoxo
