Looking for a dip that's as bold and briny as your favorite cocktail? This Dirty Martini Dip is the ultimate party appetizer. Made with cream cheese, tangy blue cheese, and plenty of chopped green olives, it's briny, salty, and irresistible.

A splash of gin (or vodka if that's your style) gives it that signature martini kick. Don't worry, the spirts aren't overpowering; they simply add a smooth depth of flavor. Serve it over crackers, pretzels, or fresh veggies.

"Great recipe! I had a few of my martini loving friends over and this was a big hit!I ate the leftovers by the spoonful..lol!"

    ★★★★★- Lisa

I row in our local Oars club, and my favorite part of rowing happens out of the water. Everyone brings an appetizer to share, and we eat, laugh, and hang out after. One evening, a friend and fellow "oar" showed up with a martini dip he discovered at the farmers market. (We both share a serious love for dirty martinis!) It disappeared in minutes...the briny olives and creamy cheese had everyone hooked.

I loved it so much, I started experimenting in the kitchen to create my own version. After a few tweaks, I landed with this recipe, and let me tell you; it's every bit as delicious and addictive! Lucky for you, I'm sharing! I hope you enjoy this "cocktail hour in a bowl!" Xoxo -Katie.

Ingredients for Dirty Martini Dip arranged on a wooden surface, including cream cheese, sour cream, blue cheese, green olives, green onions, garlic powder, and bottles of vodka and gin.

    Ingredient notes and substitutions

You will need the following ingredients to make this creamy dirty martini dip recipe.

    • cream cheese
    • blue cheese- You can substitute with gorgonzola cheese for a similar flavor. If your not a fan of blue cheese, simply leave it out and add an additional 4 ounces of cream cheese instead. You could also switch out the blue cheese for 4 ounces of sharp white cheddar.
    • green olives- For best results, use Spanish Queen olives or Spanish Manzanilla olives. Avoid stuffed olive varieties (like garlic, jalapeno, or blue cheese) because it will alter the flavor of the olive dip.
    • olive brine
    • gin or vodka- I have taste tested this dip with both, and each works beautifully. Gin adds more of a punch that compliments the tanginess of the blue cheese. While vodka brings a smooth, subtle flavor. Neither spirit is overpowering, so use whichever you prefer-you can't go wrong with either.
    • sour cream- You can substitute with ¼ cup of mayonnaise or full-fat plain Greek yogurt.
    • garlic powder- Substitute with 3 minced garlic cloves.
    • green onions- Substitute with chives or 1 teaspoon of onion powder.

The full recipe with ingredient measurements is located at the bottom of the post in the recipe card.

    steps to make martini dip

    Steps

Follow these simple steps to make the best martini dip!

    1. Coarsely chop green olives into small bits. Add to a small bowl.
    2. Pour gin or vodka over the green olives and soak for 30 minutes or more. (The longer the olives marinate, the stronger the alcohol flavor will be.)
    3. In a mixing bowl, use a electric hand mixer to mix cream cheese, blue cheese, sour cream, olive juice, garlic powder, and green onions. (You can also use a food processor. Be careful not to overprocess the olives and green onions.)
    4. Mix in the green onions and marinated olives with the cream cheese mixture. Refrigerate the creamy dip in an airtight container 30 minutes or more to allow the flavors to develop-the longer the better!
