I love all things salsa and because those pretty, bright little cranberries are in season, now is the perfect opportunity to make this Cranberry Salsa Recipe.
This salsa is a little sweet, a little tart, a little spicy, and a lot of GOOD!
How to Make Cranberry Salsa
The best thing about the Cranberry Salsa (other than it tastes so darn good) is it is made in literally 5 minutes. Follow these easy steps to make this tasty fruit dip:
- First peel and chop onion in large quarters.
- Core and quarter Granny Smith Apple.
- In a food processor, add cranberries, apple, red onion, sugar, green onions, cilantro, garlic, and jalapeños.
- In a food processor, add cranberries, apple, red onion, sugar, green onions, cilantro, garlic, and jalapeños.
- Juice lime and orange.
- Add to juice to cranberry salsa and stir.
- Salt to taste.
You can serve it immediately, but it is best to let it set in the refrigerator for 4 hours or more to allow the flavors to build.
Do you like it hot or mild?
Note: For mild salsa, remove seeds from jalapeños. For spicy hot salsa, keep the seeds. If you want it even hotter, add more jalapeños.
Went Vineyards
I made this salsa during some holiday entertaining for my guests. It was a huge hit.
The salsa paired lovely with the Morning Fog and River Ranch Chardonnay.
The 2014 Wente Vineyards Morning Fog Chardonnay received a 90 points Wine Enthusiast score. I know why. It was clean, smooth, light, crisp, and a bit fruity.
Because of it's lightness, it is a perfect bottle for entertaining because it compliments the food and does not overpower it. All of my guests enjoyed it.
We also enjoyed the Wente Vineyards Riva Ranch Chardonnay. It is a nice complex wine with notes of vanilla and spice combined with depthful accents of fruit.
Both Chardonnays will make a lovely hostess gift for your next holiday party. If you are really in the giving spirit, you can send me another bottle of each also….. Ha! Ha!
Cream cheese appetizer
The cranberry salsa is delicious by itself, but it is also nice over cream cheese. Serving it over cream cheese also makes a beautiful holiday display for entertaining.
With all the holiday preparations going on, isn't it nice to have an easy recipe to have on hand? You are welcome! xoxo
