Burger Bach is a great place to eat grass-fed beef or lamb gourmet burger.
If you are in the Durham, North Carolina area, be sure to dine at Burger Bach. Burger Bach (pronounced “batch”) is a great place to eat an incredibly juicy, lean, grass-fed beef or lamb gourmet burger.
Durham, North Carolina is about an hour and half drive from our home. My husband and I were visiting in the area and he took me to Burger Bach for lunch. I was very impressed.
Bach Burger is an incredible little Gastropub that specializes in burgers made with grass-fed, humanely raised beef or lamb that is flown in from New Zealand. They use fresh, unprocessed, all natural ingredients and when possible, organic. Besides the meat, most of their food is sourced locally.Their burgers are big, juicy, grilled to temperature, and absolutely DELICIOUS! Pictured above is their “The Original” burger made with original sauce, diced onions, dill pickle, lettuce, uncured bacon, organic NZ cheddar, tomato, free-range mayo. It was PERFECT.
The food was so good, I put it on my “Must Go Back So I Can One Day Write About This Place” List. And so, when I escaped with my girlfriends on a road trip and we were passing through the Durham area looking for a place to eat, I suggested we go to Burger Bach.
My friends were seduced with the industrial, sleek design of the interior of the restaurant. Once seated, we were immediately greeted by an exceptional waiter named Anthony Jones. He was well versed with the menu and offered enticing suggestions for us to try. He explained how their wide variety of sauces for the burgers and fries were all homemade such as their organic Ketchup, Basil Pesto Aioli, Cilantro Sauce, Manuka Honey Mustard Sauce, Blueberry Chipotle BBQ Sauce, and Fresh Tarragon Sauce to name a few.
All of the burgers are served with a fresh made salad, so Anthony suggested we all split a round of fries. The Fry serving is HUGE and meant for sharing. It is the perfect opportunity to try their amazing sauces. Anthony suggested we try the Buffalo Ranch and Basil Pesto Aioli in addition to the Ketchup. The sauces were scrumptious on those hand cut fries.
For my meal, I ordered the Wellington Burger with no bun topped with NZ triple cream blue cheese, HP Sauce, brown gravy, caramelized onions, sautéed wild mushrooms, garlic aioli and was accompanied with a fresh made side salad. It was as awesome as it sounds. Burger Bach offers Gluten Free buns or a lettuce wrap, but I kept it simple and left out the bun. I try to avoid bread when possible and I just don’t miss the bun with my burgers. Tasty juice was just oozing out of that meaty burger. It was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The gourmet toppings made the burger PERFECT.
Two of my friends split the The HAKA Chili Cheese Burger topped with organic yellow mustard, Bach-pickled jalapeños, chipotle chile, american cheese, tomato, free-range mayo. They saw the size of the burgers and knew they would not be able to eat one on their own.
My healthy friend ordered the Young Spinach Salad made with young spinach, NZ triple cream blue cheese, julienned red onions, sliced apple, uncured bacon, toasted pecans with a Manuka Honey Dijon vinaigrette. She was pleased.
We were on heading back on the road and to my reluctance, we had no time for their fancy smancy signature cocktails.
Next time I would like to try their “THE FERN” made with Four Roses Bourbon, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup. Or maybe I will order “THE LAST WORD.” It seems fitting for me since I am always getting that last word in. It consists of Tanqueray Gin, Green Chartreuse, Luxardo Maraschino, and fresh lime juice.
In the evening, Burger Bach serves mussels, shrimp, and oysters. I hear they are phenomenal. I will add them to my must try next list.
We were so pleased with Anthony’s service, the quality of the food, and the experience of our dining that we all left an “Excellent” filled survey card. It was well deserved.
