This thick homemade barbecue sauce is excellent on chicken, ribs, brisket, grilled turkey, pork, and salmon.
It also makes a great flavor enhancer to baked beans!

The Sauce is a bit Spicy!
Warning! This blueberry bbq sauce is packed with tons of flavor, but it is really spicy.
However, the heat is not so overpowering that you need to sip water between each bite.
I would not recommend this recipe for children, but for adults who love spicy foods.
The hot and sweet combination is perfect for those who enjoy food with an added heated kick.
Ingredients
You need the following 4 ingredients to make this chipotle barbecue sauce:
- blueberries- I use frozen, but you can use fresh.
- brown sugar- You can use dark or brown. The darker sugar will be a little more rich in flavor. You can substitute with coconut palm sugar.
- molasses- Molasses helps with the sweetness and flavor. It also helps with thickening the sauce.
- chipotle peppers in adobo sauce- The peppers are what gives this barbecue sauce the spicy, smokey, intense flavor. It balances the sweetness of the sauce. It is important to include the adobo sauce. Because the flavors of the adobo sauce is so intense, you do not need to add other flavor ingredients.
- salt to taste
