The Bentley is Kinston’s finest Bed and Breakfast. The beautiful inn is full of charm and winsomeness that is matched with exceptional hospitality from it’s owners, Linda and Ward. The stunning inn is also just a brisk walk away from the famous Chef and Farmer restaurant and the Mother Earth Brewery.
I recently surprised my husband with a trip to Kinston, NC for our anniversary. Ever since our Dinner with the Avett Brothers, we have been huge fans of Vivian Howard and have been dying to try her restaurant, The Chef and the Farmer, which is about 2.5 hours away. Kinston is very small and there are very few hotel accommodations. The Bentley sounded promising, so I decided to make reservations there.
We couldn’t believe our luck when we pulled up. The exterior of the house was magnificant.
We were greeted by the most charming couple, The Bentley’s owners, Linda and Ward. We later joined them for wine on the patio and I have to tell you…even with the anticipation for The Chef and the Farmer, we were actually sad to leave for dinner. We had such a good time chatting and getting to know them. Their stories were so intriguing. Time flew so quickly in their company. We honestly want to come back soon just to hang out with them again.
The inside of the lovely inn was as spectacular as the outside.
I couldn’t get good angles, so my pictures don’t do any justice, but each bedroom was elegant and stylishly decorated with thoughtful details and personal touches. There are only four bedrooms, so you literally have almost the whole house when you stay at The Bentley Inn. They were all lovely.
And the remaining of the interior was handsomely decorated with timeless style.
It would not be a true bed and breakfast without a fabulous breakfast, right? Well, Linda and Ward did not disappoint. Linda cooked an AMAZING breakfast almost too pretty to eat, while Ward served it and refilled our coffee and juice. We were so spoiled.
I can’t tell you how much we enjoyed our time at The Bentley Inn. The Chef and the Farmer did live up to it’s expectations. The food was incredible.The restaurant was beautiful and the service was exceptional. Vivian Howard never disappoints. We also enjoyed Vivian Howard’s Boiler Room. It is a great place for oysters, incredible burgers, dessert, and craft cocktails. We loved both restaurants and highly recommend both. However, I think the highlight of our weekend was hanging out with Linda and Ward. I am hoping to come back one day just to stay and visit. Maybe they would let me break into their fabulous kitchen and cook for them? I would love to have an evening hearing their fascinating stories over good food and wine again. I recommend putting The Bentley House and The Chef and the Farmer on your MUST DO ONEDAY list! You will love them!
