In a city where there are several thousands of restaurants, it is hard to choose where to go. Patsy’s Italian Restaurant of NYC needs to be at the top of your list for your next dining experience. It was Frank Sinatra’s favorite restaurant in NYC and it might become yours too!
Patsy’s Italian Restaurant is located at 236 W. 56th St., New York City in the Theatre District. When you walk in, you are greeted by a well dressed and charming Host who welcomes you into a very pretty, vintage looking dining area. “Come this way please…” He says in a thick New York/Italian accent.
Everything is pristine, clean, beautiful, and top notch. Smells of garlic and basil quickly intoxicate you. You feel as if you are going back in time. Like a scene out of The God Father, at a classy authentic Italian Restaurant, this is the type of place you could imagine the Italian Mafia having their secret meetings over a plate of Spaghetti and Meatballs or Veal Parmesan. Maybe, maybe not…. But for sure the cast of the Sopranos loved to eat here.
And so did many, many other famous celebrities. Patrons include,“Michael Bublé, Ben Stiller, Tony Danza, Al Pacino, Placido Domingo, Alec Baldwin, Kim Basinger, Tom Hanks, Madonna, George Clooney, Rappers Heavy “D” and Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs, David Letterman, Oprah Winfrey, Keanu Reeves, Jonathan Demme, Tony Bennett, Don King, Robert DeNiro, Don Rickles, Jaclyn Smith, Phyllis George, Stephen King, Calvin Klein, Carroll O’Connor, Jon Bon Jovi, Rush Limbaugh, Liza Minnelli, Jerry Stiller, Anne Meara Stiller, Chris Noth, Jaime Farr, Chevy Chase, Cheryl Ladd, Huey Lewis, and Patty LaBelle, to name several. In addition, our patrons have also included the late Mario Puzo, James Gandolfini, John F. Kennedy Jr., Farrah Fawcett, Rosemary Clooney, and many others.”
And why? Because the food of course! It is AMAZING! They serve REAL ITALIAN FOOD made of the highest quality of ingredients created from their in-house family recipes.
We couldn’t wait to dig in.
They start you off with fresh warm bread… the beginning to the end of my diet that day.
We ordered the Fresh Fried Calamari as a starter.
The breading on the calamari was light and crispy. It was not overpowering. The calamari tasted fresh. The marinara had hints of fresh basil and garlic. The combination was delicious.
As an entree, I had the Eggplant Parmigiana.
The eggplant was cut thin and nicely fried. The marinara and fresh mozzarella cheese complimented it beautifully. It was music in my mouth! I didn’t leave a bite left over.
My husband ordered the Sausages Pizzaiola with Peppers and Fried Zucchini.
The Italian Sausages had a lovely sweet taste that paired nicely with the sweet red peppers. I would highly recommend ordering them. The zucchini was very lightly breaded and was cooked perfectly.
My daughter ordered the Stuffed Calamari.
I was surprised that she branched out of her box so much. The Stuffed Calamari is stuffed with shrimp, calamari, crab, and lobster, then served in a tomato and garlic sauce. She loved it. The dish was delicious. The sauce was AMAZING!
My Sister-in-law ordered the Cheese Ravioli.
The Cheese Ravioli is stuffed with three cheeses and served with a tomato sauce. She recommends it.
My Brother-in-law ordered the Veal Cutlet Parmigiana.
He said it was cooked perfectly and he liked it very much.
My Father-in-law ordered the Shrimp Marinara.
The shrimp is simmered in a marinara sauce and white wine, then served with spaghetti. M father-in-law enjoyed it.
The waiter came by to garnish our plate with fresh cheese. How do you say no to that?
My little nephew was not in the mood for Italian food that day… Crazy little kid. But alas, no worries. The chef was happy to make him hand breaded chicken strips and hand cut fries!!!
He didn’t finish them all, so we had to try them. They had to be the best chicken strips I ever ate…
Although my little nephew was too full to finish his chicken, he did save room for dessert.
I suggest you save room also! It was AMAZING! (We had a bite also.)
It was an incredible meal. I totally understand why it was a favorite of Frank Sinatra’s. We will definitely stop in again on our next trip to the Big Apple. I highly recommend you do too. And if you do stop in, tell them I sent you! I am not famous, but I do know good food!
